Webinar: Needs of Caregivers of People with Disabilities in the Asian American and Pacific Islander Community
In this webinar, which will take place on May 29th at 12:00 PM Eastern time, Dr. Murthy will explore the unique experiences and needs of caregivers of people with disabilities within the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. She will discuss cultural values, language barriers, and gaps in service access, while highlighting strategies to provide more inclusive, culturally responsive support.
Who is Sumithra Murthy?
Sumithra Murthy, Ph.D., M.B.B.S., M.P.H., is a Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Disability and Human Development at the University of Illinois, Chicago. She has a background in clinical medicine and public health. Her doctoral training was in disability studies. As a mixed methods researcher, her scholarship addresses family support and caregiving for people with disabilities with a special focus on intellectual and developmental disabilities, health disparities among people with disabilities and their families, health promotion, and culturally-tailored interventions.
