Webinar: Special Education Law Overview

In this webinar, which will take place on March 27, 2025 at 12:00 PM Eastern time, Kendall Eaton, Esq., and Mallory Legg, Esq., will provide an overview of special education law, including eligibility, the evaluation process, educational placements, extended school year (ESY), transition planning, and dispute resolution. They will also share resources related to special education law.

Who is Kendall Eaton?

Kendall Eaton, Esq., is a staff attorney at Project HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy, and Law), a community-based program of the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Kendall received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from The Catholic University of America. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor at Elon University School of Law. While in law school, Kendall served as a Project HEAL trainee and as an intern for Disability Rights Maryland. She also worked as a research assistant at Elon Law reviewing North Carolina laws and regulations surrounding students with specific learning disabilities and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Prior to law school, Kendall worked as a behavioral therapist for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the District of Columbia Public Schools System.

Who is Mallory Legg?

Mallory Legg, Esq., is the director of Project HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy, and Law), a community-based program of the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Mallory earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Delaware and a Juris Doctor at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. She interned at Project HEAL during her second and third years of law school and started as a staff attorney in August 2014. In April 2015, Mallory received an award for dedication to her law school’s public interest organization, the Maryland Public Interest Law Project. Mallory is on the board of the First Maryland Disability Trust. She is on the development committee and is a co-chair of the membership committee for the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates. Mallory received The Daily Record’s Leading Women Award in December 2017 and the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) Young Professional Award in November 2017.
